From St. George roots to 20+ carriers.

Jorge Wetenkamp opened Desert Crest in March 2021 after years as a captive agent, tired of having only one answer to every client question. Eduardo Martinez joined bringing a background in banking and mortgages — the perfect complement to Jorge's insurance expertise. Together they built the agency they wished existed: one that shops the whole market, explains every option clearly, and picks up the phone.

Hi, I'm Jorge — your local independent insurance agent.

My career path hasn't been a straight line, and I think that's one of my strengths. Early on, I worked for In-N-Out Burger and had the unique opportunity to help open their first Utah location. From there, I explored several construction trades while continuing my education, and I even spent time working for the Utah DMV. Each role taught me the value of hard work, organization, and great customer service.

In 2017, I found my true fit when I entered the insurance industry as an agent with AAA Insurance. I quickly discovered that I genuinely enjoy helping people, educating clients, and working in a service-driven, relationship-focused business. After several successful years, I took the next step in March of 2021 and opened my own independent insurance brokerage.

As an independent agent, I'm no longer limited to just one insurance company. I work with multiple trusted carriers, which allows me to offer more options, better coverage solutions, and competitive pricing tailored to each client's needs. This independence lets me focus on openly educating you, customizing your coverage, and helping you find the best value for your insurance dollar — while also making insurance simple, transparent, and stress-free.

My career in financial services began in banking, where I worked closely with individuals, families, and business owners to help them make confident financial decisions. During that time, I developed a strong foundation in lending, credit, and customer service, and later expanded into mortgage sales — guiding clients through one of the biggest financial milestones of their lives: buying or refinancing a home. Helping people protect what they've worked so hard to build has always been what drives me.

That same passion naturally led me into insurance. I realized insurance is one of the most important pieces of a solid financial plan, and I wanted to be in a position where I could truly advocate for my clients — not just sell them one company's product.
